Sarasota County
and the City of Sarasota offer a great deal of diverse
activies. As with Venice, beaches, boating, fishing, golfing
and shopping opportunities abound. In addition there are
interesting historical sites, State Parks,
cultural events and restaurants.
One that shouldn't be missed is the Marie Selby Botanical
Gardens. This site, overlooking Sarasota Bay, is perhaps the
most beautiful location in all of Florida. One minute you can
be looking at a sunset across a sailboats lined bay, the next you
can be in the landscape of the old south, then the next you can
be in a tropical rain forest. Or step back further in time to
Historic Spanish Point. See how the area was settled both 100
years ago, and 1000 years ago.
Excellent bus service is available via Sarasota County
Area Transit (SCAT) everyday except Sunday and a few holidays.
